TRANSLATION BUREAU

Sarah Bérubé
Technolinguist

Sarah completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Translation and a minor in Economics at the Université de Montréal before obtaining a DESS in Localization from the Université du Québec en Outaouais.

During her undergraduate studies, Sarah actively participated in departmental and research activities. She worked, for example, on the Canadian Bilingual Dictionary project and was treasurer of the translation students' association.

At the Translation Bureau, Sarah has worked for the Canada Revenue Agency service and the Informatics service (Montreal). She joined Technolinguistic Services in April 2004, where, in addition to participating in activities related to the Language Technologies Research Centre (LTRC), she is involved in website development and localization.

Melissa Ehgoetz
Technolinguist

Melissa obtained a B.A. in Translation, with a trilingual French-Spanish-English option, from the University of Ottawa and will complete an M.A. in Translation in 2004. Her thesis investigated the possibility of designing and implementing a controlled language on a small scale, which would then be used by a machine translation system to produce texts in several different languages.

During her studies at the University of Ottawa, Melissa was involved in a research project that gauged a readership's acceptance of machine-translated texts. She was also responsible for training and providing support to students while they learned to work with various translation technology tools.

Before joining Technolinguistics Services, Melissa worked in the Terminology section of the Translation Bureau, where she worked with both commercial and proprietary terminology tools and was always on the look out for new technology to help terminologists in their work.
